Black Myth: Zhong Kui Gets 15-Minute Gameplay Trailer, But No Release Date
Game Science has finally shown what its next Black Myth game actually looks like. The studio has released 15 minutes of Black Myth: Zhong Kui gameplay video, revealing sword combat, supernatural enemies, and a darker world.
Zhong Kui finally gets its big gameplay reveal
The new footage marks the first extended gameplay look at Game Science’s follow-up to Black Myth: Wukong. The developer says the footage comes from an early work-in-progress build. The gameplay trailer moves between exploration, story scenes, and several combat encounters. Zhong Kui uses a sword instead of Wukong’s staff, with parries, blocks, dodges, and special attacks taking center stage.
One fight shows the protagonist battling a large creature while using elemental attacks. He also summons another entity before combining its power with his own. The footage gives a much clearer idea of Game Science’s new combat direction.
Game Science is taking the series somewhere different
The game draws from Chinese mythology and folklore, with Zhong Kui serving as its central figure. He is traditionally known as a powerful demon queller and protector against evil spirits. The trailer also spends time outside combat. Zhong Kui explores coastal areas, forests, waterways, and supernatural locations before facing increasingly dangerous creatures.
Black Myth: Zhong Kui doesn’t have a release date
Despite the impressive gameplay showcase, Game Science has not announced when Zhong Kui will launch. The studio continues to describe the project as being in early development. As of now, the studio hasn’t confirmed any platform, but we expect it to launch across major gaming consoles and PC.
