XBOX Has 88 Profile Badges, but You Can Never Collect Them All

XBOX Profile Badges are getting more attention from Microsoft, with recent updates making the achievement-style markers easier for players to discover and view.

Recent XBOX Insider builds have introduced new ways to view badges attached to player profiles. Microsoft has also added new badges tied to important moments in XBOX history, including one for players who bought the original XBOX One when it launched in 2013.

The website xct.live currently tracks 88 different XBOX Profile Badges and lists their requirements, availability, and rarity.

15 XBOX badges are tied to Gamerscore

Gamerscore accounts for 15 of the 88 currently tracked XBOX Profile Badges.

The requirements start at 1,000 Gamerscore and extend all the way to 10 million Gamerscore. As expected, the badges become increasingly rare as the requirements climb.

40 badges track XBOX Live membership

Another 40 badges represent the number of years a player has spent as an XBOX Live member.

Not all of these badges can currently exist on player profiles. Microsoft created badges covering membership periods longer than XBOX Live itself has existed, meaning players will only become eligible for some of them in future years.

Other badges mark XBOX milestones and roles

The remaining 33 XBOX Profile Badges cover a much wider range of milestones, roles, and historical events.

Some relatively common badges went to users who subscribed to XBOX Live Gold before Microsoft discontinued the service.

Others have much stricter requirements. Microsoft created certain badges specifically for employees who worked on particular XBOX projects, products, or hardware.

Some of the rarest badges go back to the early days of the platform. For example, one badge recognizes people who worked on the XBOX Live team in 2002.

These badges effectively serve as small pieces of XBOX history attached to individual profiles.

Nobody can collect all 88 XBOX Profile Badges

Players looking at the full badge gallery should not expect to complete the entire collection.

There is currently no way for one person to obtain all 88 XBOX Profile Badges. Microsoft has retired some badges, while others only went to employees or people involved in specific projects.

Several badges also represent events that happened years ago and cannot be earned retroactively.

Microsoft’s recent focus on making profile badges more visible could give these increasingly rare markers more significance, especially for long-time members of the XBOX community.
