State of Decay 3 Targets 2027 Launch With Closed Beta This Year

State of Decay 3 is still in development despite XBOX’s recent round of project cancellations and layoffs that reportedly affected 3,200 employees.

The cuts reportedly hit id Software hard, but Undead Labs appears to be moving ahead with State of Decay 3 as planned.

The zombie survival game is still targeting a 2027 release, with a closed beta scheduled to take place this year.

Players interested in testing the game early can sign up through the official State of Decay playtest website.

State of Decay 3 will feature the largest map in the series, along with improved multiplayer that allows more players to join than ever before.

Microsoft and Undead Labs have not yet shared the exact timing for the closed beta, but the playtest should give selected players an early look at the game before its planned 2027 launch.

State of Decay 3 is coming to XBOX, PC, and PS5

State of Decay 3 is planned for XBOX Series X|S and will also launch through XBOX Game Pass.

PC players will be able to access the game through XBOX on PC, while a PlayStation 5 version is also planned.

XBOX Cloud Gaming support is expected as well, giving Game Pass users another way to play the game on supported devices.

The title will also support XBOX Play Anywhere, allowing players to carry purchases and progress across supported XBOX and PC devices.
