Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta: Release Date, Start Time, How to Download & Play

It’s almost time to jump into the next big Call of Duty test, with the Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta opening its doors tomorrow. Unlike the first weekend early access beta, you don’t need to have the game pre-ordered. In fact, the Open Beta is also part of Xbox Free Play Days lineup for this weekend.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta Start Times

The Open Beta kicks off Friday, August 28 at 10 AM PT and runs until Tuesday, September 1 at 10 AM PT. It is open to all players across supported platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2. You can jump into new Multiplayer modes, expanded movement, Ground War, and Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence. The Beta also includes the new Zodiac map and extensive Operator and Loadout customization.

You can progress up to Level 30 during the Beta. You can also earn up to eight rewards, including the Beta Forged Weapon Blueprint for the Han 86 Assault Rifle.

How to download and play the Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta

You don’t need to pre-order Modern Warfare 4 for this Open Beta weekend. Simply find Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 – Beta through your platform’s digital store and install it.

On XBOX, search for the Beta in the XBOX Store and select Install. You can also click here for the same. PC players can also download it through XBOX on PC, Battle.net, or Steam. Meanwhile, PlayStation 5 players can find the Beta via the PlayStation Store. For those on Switch 2, you can download it from Nintendo eShop here.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta preload times

The important part is getting the Beta installed before launch. Activision began Open Beta preloading on August 26 at 9 AM PT.

Speaking of the full game, Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch on October 23, 2026. The Open Beta gives players an early taste before that release. If you have been waiting to see whether Modern Warfare 4 can deliver, tomorrow is the real test.
