Microsoft Teams Will Soon Let You Silence Every Notification at Once

Microsoft Teams is getting a new option that lets users temporarily pause all notifications for a set period without changing their existing notification preferences.

According to Message Center advisory MC1465768, Microsoft plans to begin rolling out the feature in September 2026 across desktop, web, and mobile.

Teams gets a temporary notification pause option

The new Teams notification control works as a temporary override rather than a permanent mute setting.

Users can choose a period during which Teams will stop sending notifications. Once that period expires, Teams automatically restores the notification settings that were active before the pause.

This means users will not need to manually re-enable individual alerts after a focus session, meeting, or other period when they want fewer interruptions.

How to pause Microsoft Teams notifications

Microsoft will place the new option in the profile menu located in the upper-right corner of Teams.

Users will be able to select how long they want notifications paused. Teams will then suppress notifications for the selected duration.

When the timer expires, notifications will automatically resume using the user’s existing preferences.

The feature works across desktop, web, and mobile

Microsoft plans to make temporary notification pauses available to both Teams personal and commercial customers.

The feature will work across Teams on desktop, web, and mobile, allowing users to temporarily reduce interruptions regardless of which version they use.

Rollout starts in September 2026

Microsoft plans to begin the Targeted Release rollout in September 2026 and complete it by early October.

General availability should begin in early October, with Microsoft expecting the broader rollout to finish within four weeks.

The company notes that the rollout schedule could still change.
