007 First Light Release Date for Nintendo Switch 2 Just Got Delayed Again

007 First Light has officially missed its latest Nintendo Switch 2 window. IO Interactive now plans to launch the James Bond game in March 2027, giving the port more time to polish its performance.

The Switch 2 version needs more time in the oven

IO Interactive previously targeted a summer 2026 release for Nintendo Switch 2. That window later became a broader 2026 target, but the studio has now pushed the game into March 2027. Explaining the reason for the release date delay in a post on X, IO Interactive stated the following:

Today we would like to provide an update on the Nintendo Switch 2 release of 007 First Light. We know many of you have been looking forward to experiencing Bond’s reimagined origin story on Nintendo Switch 2, and we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm. To ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect, we have made the decision to delay the release to March 2027, with the exact date to be communicated later. This additional time will go toward polishing the Nintendo Switch 2 performance of the game. We were thrilled by the positive feedback on 007 First Light at gamescom, and it’s a great sign of the progress being made across the whole game as we head toward launch. The same demo will be playable at Tokyo Game Show this week, so please join us there if you would like a hands-on experience. We will share further updates as soon as we are ready. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

The PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions launched on May 27. The Switch 2 version followed a separate development schedule afterward. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak previously explained the Switch 2 delay in May. He said the game was running on the console but needed more time to reach the studio’s quality bar.

That extra time has now become several more months. IO Interactive hasn’t announced an exact March 2027 release date yet. The delay also gives Nintendo Switch 2 players another reason to keep waiting for Bond’s handheld debut. As mentioned above, the studio says it will share more details once the new date is finalized.
