007 First Light Releases Globally Today on XBOX Series X|S, PS5 & PC
After months of trailers, leaks, gameplay debates, and nonstop hype, 007 First Light has officially released globally today across consoles and PC. Rather than copying classic Bond formulas again, IO Interactive is pushing a much younger and rougher version of James Bond into the spotlight, one still trying to earn his 00 status inside MI6.
007 First Light turns James Bond into a rookie spy again
In the game, players control a 26-year-old James Bond who starts out as a Royal Navy air crewman before getting recruited into MI6’s revived 00 program.
IO Interactive instead describes this version of James Bond as talented but reckless, slowly growing into the legendary spy through infiltration missions, covert operations, investigation work, gadgets, and high-risk field assignments.
The studio also confirmed missions can be approached using stealth, brute force, manipulation, or pure improvisation, which honestly sounds very HITMAN-coded in the best possible way.
The cast and soundtrack lineup is seriously good
Rising actor Patrick Gibson plays Bond in this reimagined origin story, while the supporting cast includes Gemma Chan, Lennie James, and even Lenny Kravitz. Meanwhile, Lana Del Rey and legendary Bond composer David Arnold teamed up for the game’s official theme song called First Light.
IO Interactive also packed the game with partnerships involving Aston Martin, OMEGA, Leica, Jaguar Land Rover, and more to push the cinematic Bond fantasy even harder. On the tech front, the game launches with DLSS 4.5 support and enhanced NVIDIA features, while path tracing updates reportedly arrive later this summer.
The game is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games Store, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version planned later this summer.
