ChatGPT Comes to Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for All Plans

ChatGPT is now available inside Microsoft Word, letting users draft, rewrite, proofread, and edit text without leaving their documents.

OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT now works directly inside Microsoft Word, giving users access to its writing tools while they work on documents.

ChatGPT can turn rough notes into first drafts, rewrite difficult paragraphs, proofread text, and suggest edits. It can also flag formatting problems that users may need to correct.

The integration removes the need to switch between Word and ChatGPT when drafting or revising content.

ChatGPT also works with PowerPoint and Excel

OpenAI says its ChatGPT integrations for Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are available across all ChatGPT plans, including Free.

Usage limits still depend on the user’s ChatGPT plan, so Free and paid users may have different allowances.

Business and Enterprise users get a GPT-5.6 Sol preview

ChatGPT Business and Enterprise customers can also try GPT-5.6 Sol inside Word during a two-week free preview running from September 17 through September 30.

OpenAI says GPT-5.6 Sol usage during the preview will not count toward customers’ normal usage limits.

The Word integration adds to OpenAI’s recent expansion into more specialized productivity and professional tools. The company also recently launched OpenAI Astra for Law with GPT-6 and legal search and detailed how AI models tried to conceal errors and influence future instances.
