Windows 11 KB5124010 Is Reportedly Crashing Battlefield 6 and Easy Anti-Cheat Games

Windows 11 KB5124010 is reportedly causing some games to crash or fail to launch after users install the optional preview update.

Players have reported issues with Battlefield 6, Battlefield 2042, and Wardogs. Microsoft has not acknowledged the gaming problems, so the exact cause remains unclear.

The Windows 11 KB5124010 preview update includes several new features and fixes, but some users say gaming problems started immediately after installing it.

Battlefield 6 crashes shortly after launch

Battlefield 6 users report that the game can crash to the desktop around 15 to 30 seconds after launch, often without showing an error message.

Battlefield 2042 players have reported similar behavior. Since both games use EA’s Javelin Anti-Cheat, some users suspect the anti-cheat system could be involved.

However, neither Microsoft nor EA has confirmed a compatibility problem.

Easy Anti-Cheat games also have problems

Users have also reported crashes with games using Easy Anti-Cheat. Wardogs players say the game can fail to launch and display the error code WD-L020-95bc94d86a0d.

Reports come from users with different hardware configurations, which makes a specific CPU or GPU issue less likely.

In both cases, affected players say uninstalling KB5124010 resolved the problem.

Anti-cheat compatibility could be involved

The reports suggest KB5124010 may conflict with some anti-cheat systems, but Microsoft, EA, and Easy Anti-Cheat have not confirmed that theory.

For now, uninstalling the optional update appears to be the main workaround reported by affected players.
