Windows 11 KB5124010 Adds New Accessibility Setting, Touchpad Gestures, Copilot Key Remapping & More

Microsoft has released another major preview update, KB5124010, for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2, taking them to Build 26100.9550 and Build 26200.9550 respectively. The update brings several accessibility improvements alongside changes to Magnifier, Settings, precision touchpads, the Copilot key remapping, Camera Roll, Windows fonts, and more.

Windows 11 gets a new accessibility setting

One of the notable additions is a new Open apps maximized accessibility setting. When enabled, Windows automatically opens application windows in a maximized state. Microsoft says the feature is designed to reduce everyday friction for users working with screen readers or magnification, people using tablet mode and anyone who prefers applications to open in a consistent full-screen workspace. The option is available under Settings > Accessibility > Visual effects.

Microsoft is also improving navigation of the Bluetooth quick settings page when users interact with it through a keyboard, gamepad or Narrator.

Magnifier gets a visual refresh

The Windows 11 Magnifier taskbar is receiving a modernized design. Microsoft has updated the toolbar icons so they better match the Windows 11 visual language. The spacing and padding across the toolbar have also been refined for a more consistent appearance.

The functional experience remains unchanged. Views, zoom controls, keyboard shortcuts and Read Aloud continue to work as they did previously.

Settings gets several smaller improvements

KB5124010 improves the reliability of Settings when users interact with Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners. Microsoft is also changing the Settings > Apps > Installed apps page so packaged apps now display their version number at the top level, matching the way version information is already shown for other applications.

The time picker in Settings is also being improved. It now reflects the user’s preferred 12-hour or 24-hour time format when switching between the two. This applies to areas such as active hours and Night light scheduling. Another change improves the persistence of the Allow multiple apps to use camera at the same time option under Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Camera settings.

Windows 11 touchpads get new scrolling controls

Microsoft is adding more gesture controls for precision touchpads. Users can now enable Single-finger scrolling, allowing vertical scrolling with one finger starting from the left or right side of the touchpad.

There is also Automatic scrolling, which lets users continue scrolling without lifting their fingers by moving them toward the edge of the touchpad. Microsoft notes that controls for scroll and zoom speed and accelerated scrolling were already introduced in the July 2026 update, KB5101684.

The Copilot key can now be remapped

KB5124010 introduces a new Windows 11 setting that lets users remap the Copilot key. Instead of opening Copilot, the key can be configured to function as Right Ctrl or the Context Menu key. Microsoft says this can help users retain familiar keyboard shortcuts and accessibility workflows.

Camera Roll backup comes to Windows 11 Settings

Microsoft is also introducing Camera Roll backup in Settings. Eligible users can protect their photos with OneDrive by setting up the feature from the Settings Home or Accounts page. The setup can then be completed on a mobile phone using a QR code. Microsoft notes that feature availability depends on the device and market.

New scripts arrive in the Ebrima font

The update adds support for the Garay and Beria Erfe scripts to the Ebrima font. Microsoft describes Ebrima as its first font to support both scripts. Garay was encoded in Unicode 16.0, while Beria Erfe was encoded in Unicode 17.0. Lastly, KB5124010 also refines the Adlam glyph designs in Ebrima so they align with the current Unicode standard and provide greater consistency
