Microsoft has published the official YouTube live link for the upcoming October event with a tagline, “Something new is coming from Windows.” The teaser comes just days before Microsoft’s upcoming Windows and Surface event in San Francisco, where the company will focus on local AI and the next chapter of PC computing.

Microsoft teases the big Windows and Surface October 7 event

Microsoft has confirmed that its October 7 event will feature NVIDIA RTX Spark alongside “new experiences designed to unlock more possibilities for developers and builders.” The company has not yet revealed exactly what those new Windows experiences will be.

The event is scheduled for October 7 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET in San Francisco. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Windows and Devices chief Pavan Davuluri, and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang are expected to take part.

Microsoft has already confirmed that RTX Spark will have a major appearance at the event. The company previously introduced the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, a developer-focused machine with up to 128GB of unified memory and up to one petaflop of AI compute.

That’s not all; the Surface Laptop Ultra is also expected to feature heavily at the event, alongside Microsoft’s work on optimizing Windows for local AI workloads. It is possible that Microsoft could show how Windows is being adapted for RTX Spark hardware and developers building AI applications locally.

For Windows users, the interesting part is Microsoft’s wording around “new experiences.” The company appears to have more than hardware updates planned, although it has not provided details yet. And no, don’t expect Microsoft to unveil Windows 12 just yet. Microsoft has already indicated that the event is about the evolution of Windows and local AI rather than a new Windows version. So, the company is most likely to stick with its promises. But, again, who doesn’t like surprises, right?
