Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra Could Give Apple a Price Headache

Microsoft could have an interesting price point in store for the Surface Laptop Ultra. A new rumor suggests the upcoming RTX Spark-powered might be priced around €2,000, although the figure is far from official.

The speculation comes from Roland Quandt, who discussed the potential pricing on his Bluesky post from yesterday (via Notebookcheck). Quandt said he was looking at retail information for the Surface Laptop Ultra and suggested that a system with the lower-end RTX Spark variant, 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD could land around the €2,000 mark (~2291). He also stressed that there is not enough information yet to make sense of the pricing structure.

If the reported €2,000 price ends up being accurate, it would put the Surface Laptop Ultra below Apple’s current 16-inch MacBook Pro starting price of $2,999 in the US, although the two machines would still need to be compared on configuration and performance before drawing conclusions.

Quandt also suggested that the figure could represent a base price with additional costs or a tiered configuration, making the final retail pricing difficult to predict right now. So, for now, this should be treated strictly as speculation rather than a leaked official price.

Earlier this year, Microsoft officially introduced the Surface Laptop Ultra as its most powerful Surface Laptop yet. The machine combines an NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU with up to 128GB of unified memory, full CUDA support and up to 1 petaflop of AI compute. Microsoft says it can handle models with up to 120 billion parameters locally.

The laptop also packs a 15-inch mini-LED PixelSense Ultra touchscreen, all-day battery life and a design aimed at creators, developers and AI-focused users. Microsoft has not announced final pricing or a consumer release date yet.
