Gemini is Down & Not Working in Latest Outage With Something Went Wrong (1), 1155 & 1099 Errors

Google Gemini appears to be having a major outage right now, with thousands of users reporting problems. DownDetector shows reports suddenly exploding, with 4,412 reports at 16:07 UTC.

To figure out what’s happening, I quickly opened Gemini and tried saying “Hi,” to which Gemini responded with a “Something Went Wrong (1)” error. As of writing, it seems Gemini is not taking any requests, so you might not be able to take help from it for anything.

The reports are not limited to one location. Recent user reports have appeared from India, the United States, the UK, Turkey, Australia, Indonesia, and several other countries.

Earlier today, users were facing similar issues. We have a quick guide for you to fix when Gemini isn’t working. As of now, Google’s public Workspace status dashboard doesn’t show any issues with Gemini, but we hope it will be updated soon.

In short, the exact cause remains unclear. The spike also does not necessarily mean every Gemini user is affected. However, thousands of reports appearing within a short period suggest something unusual is happening. Gemini users experiencing errors may need to wait for the service to stabilize. Google has not publicly confirmed the cause of this latest disruption at the time of writing.
