Google is making a significant push into women’s health, with Flo Health is joining the effort. The two companies have announced a multi-year partnership to connect menstrual cycle data with wearable health metrics, personalized coaching, and new women-focused health products.

Google Health and Flo want to connect the dots

The partnership aims to give women a clearer picture of their health across different life stages. Google Health already offers cycle tracking, period predictions, and cycle-aware coaching through its health apps and compatible devices.

Starting early next year, users will be able to sync their Flo Health app with Google Health. With explicit consent, cycle data from Flo can be combined with metrics such as resting heart rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature, and sleep stages.

The integration will also work in the other direction, allowing selected Google Health data to reach Flo. Google says this could help create a more consistent experience across both apps. In addition to software, the partnership includes plans for new products combining Flo’s health insights and algorithms with Google’s wearable hardware and sensors. Google says compatible devices include the Pixel Watch 5, Google Fitbit Air, and Google Fitbit Edge.

Google says women will control their health data

Privacy is a major part of the announcement. Google says data will not move between the apps without explicit user permission, which can be withdrawn at any time. The company also says Flo data shared with Google Health will not be used for advertising, sold, or made available to other apps through Google’s health platforms. The new syncing experience is expected to begin early next year, while further research and product plans will develop over the multi-year partnership.
