Microsoft Teams Is Getting Simpler AI Controls and Meeting Templates
Microsoft Teams will introduce simplified AI meeting controls in November 2026, giving IT administrators and meeting organizers more flexibility over how participants use Copilot and other AI features during and after meetings.
The update aims to make AI policies easier to manage while giving organizations greater control over meeting experiences.
Microsoft Teams Will Simplify AI and Copilot Meeting Policies
Microsoft is introducing a simplified policy system that will allow IT administrators to manage AI features across both meetings and post-meeting experiences.
Instead of dealing with separate controls, administrators will have a more straightforward way to configure AI policies. Meeting organizers will also gain more control over whether participants can access AI-powered capabilities.
According to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, Microsoft plans to roll out these improvements in November 2026.
Teams Premium Will Support Default Meeting Templates
Microsoft is also introducing default meeting templates for Teams Premium, allowing organizations to standardize meeting settings.
IT administrators will be able to create templates containing their organization’s preferred privacy and compliance settings. Meeting organizers can then use these templates without manually adjusting the same options whenever they schedule a meeting.
The feature should help organizations maintain consistent meeting configurations while reducing the time employees spend managing meeting settings.
However, only meeting organizers with a Teams Premium license will have access to default meeting templates.
Microsoft expects to introduce the feature in November 2026, according to its Microsoft 365 Roadmap.
The changes follow other recent Teams improvements. Microsoft is also preparing to use AI to detect phishing and impersonation attacks and has introduced a new efficiency mode that makes Teams up to 20% faster.
