Microsoft to End SharePoint Server Support on iOS and Android in November
Microsoft will end SharePoint Server support in its iOS and Android mobile apps on November 27, 2026. After that date, users will only be able to access SharePoint Online through the apps.
According to Microsoft 365 Message Center advisory MC1528013, the change will affect all customers worldwide, including organizations operating in GCC, GCC High, and DoD environments.
SharePoint mobile apps will no longer support on-premises servers
Starting November 27, Microsoft’s standalone SharePoint mobile apps will no longer allow users to connect to on-premises SharePoint Server environments.
The change applies to both iOS and Android. However, users accessing SharePoint Online, Microsoft’s cloud-based collaboration platform, can continue using the apps.
Organizations that still rely on SharePoint Server for document management and collaboration will need to prepare employees who currently access these environments through mobile devices.
Microsoft advises administrators to prepare users
Microsoft recommends that SharePoint administrators notify affected employees before the November 27 deadline and update internal documentation and support materials.
The company has not announced a replacement mobile app for organizations that plan to continue using on-premises SharePoint Server.
The retirement is part of a broader series of changes to Microsoft’s collaboration platform. The company is also phasing out classic SharePoint starting in March 2027.
Meanwhile, SharePoint Online continues to receive updates, including a new Hero Link sharing feature and Copilot context editing capabilities.
