Rockstar Confirms GTA 6 Preload Date, Time & Its Massive 212GB File Size

If you have been waiting to jump into GTA 6 on launch day, Rockstar Games has some important news for you. The studio has confirmed the game’s pre-load schedule and install size. The good news is that downloads kick off earlier than expected.

GTA 6 pre-loading starts November 10 on PS5 and Xbox

According to Rockstar’s official announcement, digital pre-loading begins on November 10. PlayStation 5 players can start downloading at midnight local time, while Xbox Series X|S users get access globally at 12 a.m. GMT.

That gives players nine days to prepare before GTA 6 launches on November 19. However, the download requires up to 212GB of available storage, depending on the device. If your console is already packed with games, now might be the time to clear some space.

Interestingly, physical copies will not include a traditional game disc. Rockstar says code-in-box versions will begin appearing at retailers on November 12, allowing buyers to redeem their codes and download the game. Players can also check Rockstar’s official pre-load support page for instructions on preparing their consoles. Automatic downloads require the relevant settings to be enabled.

Rockstar has another surprise for GTA 6 fans

Speaking of launch-day extras, Rockstar is bringing back a familiar collectible in digital and physical form. On November 19, the company will offer a printable GTA 6 cover-art poster and map of Leonida as free digital downloads. Meanwhile, a double-sided physical poster will arrive shortly after launch through the Rockstar Store. It will cost $0.99 on its own or come free with any store purchase.

The timing gives players more reasons to prepare before launch, especially those with limited console storage. With the download window opening next week, players have a little more breathing room before returning to Vice City. Have you cleared enough storage for GTA 6, or will another game have to go?
