Microsoft Releases PowerToys Update With Mouse Without Borders and File Explorer Fixes

Microsoft has released PowerToys 0.102.3101, a hotfix that addresses connection problems in Mouse Without Borders and improves File Explorer thumbnail generation.

The update fixes several issues introduced or reported in earlier builds.

PowerToys 0.102.3101 fixes Mouse Without Borders connection issues

Following the release of PowerToys 0.102.2933, some users reported that Mouse Without Borders could no longer pair their computers.

The utility sometimes became stuck between the Negotiation and Connecting stages. Other users encountered an untrusted-signature error, even when running officially signed PowerToys builds.

Microsoft has addressed these problems in version 0.102.3101, restoring the ability to pair computers using Mouse Without Borders.

File Explorer thumbnail generation also gets fixes

The update also improves how PowerToys handles thumbnail generation in File Explorer.

Microsoft has improved the handling of stalled thumbnail renderers and added better isolation for simultaneous SVG thumbnail requests.

The hotfix also preserves supported SVG formatting and improves how STL thumbnail generation handles filenames containing UTF-8 characters.

These changes should make thumbnail generation more reliable, particularly when File Explorer processes multiple files.

How to download PowerToys 0.102.3101

Users can download the latest version from the official GitHub release page or install it through the Microsoft Store.

Existing PowerToys users can also install the hotfix through the application’s built-in updater.
