Acer has entered in the handheld gaming race in a big way with the Predator Atlas 8. It is a Windows 11 gaming handheld powered by Intel’s new Arc G-Series platform. While handheld PCs are no longer a niche category, Acer appears to believe there is still room to push things further, especially when it comes to graphics performance and battery life.

Acer’s new handheld is built around Intel’s latest gaming hardware

Acer’s new Predator Atlas 8 packs Intel’s new Arc G3 Extreme processor, paired with up to Intel Arc B390 graphics. The company says the handheld supports ray tracing and Intel XeSS 3 AI upscaling technology, which should help deliver smoother frame rates while keeping visual quality intact.

The handheld packs up to an 80Wh battery and supports Intel Endurance Gaming technology, which dynamically balances power consumption and performance during gameplay. That alone could make it stand out in a category where battery anxiety remains one of the biggest complaints.

Acer is bringing some familiar Predator branding to the handheld space. The device features a dual-fan cooling solution, including what Acer describes as the first metal cooling fan ever used in a handheld gaming PC. The company claims the AeroBlade design can increase airflow by up to 10 percent compared to traditional approaches.

On the front, the Acer Predator Atlas 8 features an 8-inch WUXGA touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate, VRR support, Gorilla Glass Victus protection, and up to 500 nits of brightness. The handheld also includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, and support for microSD expansion.

The handheld gaming fight keeps getting bigger

The handheld PC market is suddenly becoming crowded, with ASUS, Lenovo, MSI, Valve, and now Acer all fighting for attention. The Predator Atlas 8 is scheduled to launch in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia in October 2026. As of now, Acer hasn’t detailed the pricing of the handheld but looking at the specs sheet below, it seems the company is seriously trying to make a mark in the gaming niche.
