indiana jones and the great circle playstation 5

The upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle might be released on PlayStation 5, according to a report released by The Verge. The news comes moments after it was reportedly announced that Starfield might be ported to PlayStation, as well, in a move that could surely change Xbox forever, for the years to come.

The hotly-anticipated Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to be released to Xbox/PC this year, and it’s developed by MachineGames while being published by Bethesda, the studio behind Starfield. The game will follow Indiana Jones, who goes on an adventure to try to stop an enigmatic group from acquiring the power of the Great Circle.

As we mentioned earlier, the game is expected to be released later this year, and Bethesda released several teasers and trailers in anticipation. It will combine both first-person and third-person perspectives and it’s labeled as an action-adventure game.

Despite being touted as a Windows/Xbox S/X exclusive, Microsoft might actually be looking into bringing the game to PlayStation consoles as well, in a move that would make it more accessible to a wider audience, but it could lead to Xbox losing Game Pass members.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PlayStation 5: what could it mean for Xbox?

Xbox might be impacted by the release of the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PlayStation 5.

First of all, similar to the Starfield case, gamers won’t have to pay two subscriptions to be able to access the game, and long-standing fans of this popular series could access it on PlayStation, rather than Xbox, effectively hurting the latter, when it comes to commercial success.

Similarly to the Starfield case, many people would go on to get an Xbox just to play the game, which could very easily be the case here. Many people would subscribe to Game Pass just to be able to play Indiana Jones, but if they already have a PlayStation, what’s the use?

Secondly, many Xbox users within the community would take this as a betrayal. Gamers care about the console war, and this is not an exception. As we saw when the news of Starfield being ported on PlayStation was released, many felt betrayed and disengaged with Microsoft’s decisions.

However, see it as good news: gamers have more options, and they won’t have to be tied to a single console. Plus, many PlayStation games might be ported to Xbox, as well, and we saw that happening with the announcement of MBL The Show 24 coming to Xbox.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is slated for a 2024 release, most probably by the end the year, around the holiday season.
