AMD Sets $899 Price for Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Flagship Chip

AMD has finally put an official price tag on its upcoming flagship processor. The company confirmed today that the new Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 desktop chip will set buyers back $899. This makes it the most expensive consumer processor with 3D V-Cache that it has ever released to the public.

PC builders have been waiting for this exact announcement for several months, and now the sticker shock is finally sinking in across the hardware community.

Launch details and the steep $899 price tag

Spending nearly $900 on a single computer part is a massive investment for most people. AMD plans to put the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 on store shelves starting next month, giving buyers a little time to save up. It knows this high cost will push some builders toward cheaper alternative options in the market.

However, it is aiming this specific hardware directly at enthusiasts who want maximum frame rates and do not mind paying a huge premium to get them. Retailers are preparing for a wave of initial demand. Finding one in stock during the first few weeks might be a difficult task, even with the steep price barrier.

Stacked cache memory and fast speeds for gaming

This processor packs some very interesting technology to justify that high price point. It uses a second-generation 3D V-Cache design to stack extra memory right on top of the actual processor cores.
