Artificial intelligence (AI) has been taking over our daily lives for some good and bad reasons. The bad? It’s replacing humans in the office setup. Now, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei warns that within five years, AI could wipe out half of all entry-level white-collar jobs, pushing unemployment as high as 20%.

Anthropic CEO warns about AI’s influence in job market

Amodei told Axios that most people don’t realize how fast this is coming. He says the people building AI have a responsibility to be honest about what’s ahead. The CEO warns that without preparation a lot of jobs could disappear suddenly because of AI.

Amodei isn’t against AI — his company recently released a new chatbot called Claude 4 and sees plenty of good uses for the tech. But the CEO says workers need help learning how to work with AI, and lawmakers must act before it’s too late.

You can’t just stop this train,” he said. “But you can nudge it a little in a different direction. We have to start now.

Well, Anthropic’s CEO isn’t the first one to comment on the job market situation in the AI’s era. LinkedIn’s Aneesh Raman and investor Kai-Fu Lee also agree that AI will change the job market fast. The time to prepare is now, before the changes hit hard.
