Anthropic Wants Claude to Manage Your Money With New Personal Finance Feature
Anthropic has introduced Personal Finance in Claude, a new feature that lets users connect their bank accounts and credit cards to track spending, review transactions, and manage their finances using AI.
The feature allows users to ask Claude questions about their balances, upcoming bills, and spending habits without switching between banking apps.
Claude can analyze spending and flag unusual transactions
Personal Finance allows users to connect multiple bank accounts and credit cards, giving Claude a broader view of their financial activity.
Users can ask Claude to categorize expenses, compare monthly spending, identify upcoming payments, and estimate how much money they will have left after paying bills.
Claude can also flag duplicate transactions, unexpected fees, and subscription price increases. Users can ask questions about financial terms, such as APR, and receive explanations based on their account information.
The feature also supports interactive spending charts, payment calendars, and customizable financial dashboards.
Anthropic uses Plaid to connect bank accounts securely
Anthropic has partnered with Plaid to connect Claude with financial institutions. Users authorize access through their banks, while Claude receives read-only access to selected financial information.
This includes bank names, account types, the last four digits of account numbers, balances, credit limits, and up to two years of transaction history.
Anthropic says Claude never receives banking passwords, and conversations within the Personal Finance hub do not contribute to AI model training.
Users can also disconnect their accounts whenever they want.
Personal Finance is rolling out to paid Claude users in the US
Anthropic is rolling out Personal Finance in beta this week to US subscribers on Claude Pro, Max, and Ultra plans.
Eligible users can find the new Personal Finance section in Claude’s sidebar, where they can connect their accounts and start asking questions about their finances.
Anthropic is also exploring partnerships with banks, wealth managers, and other regulated financial institutions to expand the feature’s capabilities.
Meanwhile, Anthropic recently restricted Claude Code from recreating existing games. In a separate security incident, a malicious extension put 5,000 Claude Code developers at risk of SSH backdoors.
