The last few days have been very exciting at Microsoft, especially the Build 2024 event, where the company unveiled its flagship Copilot+ PCs. But there was another announcement that many missed: Microsoft’s collaboration with Cognition AI!

With the partnership in place, Devin, an AI-powered software developer, will now be available to customers. According to Microsoft’s official blog, it will help developers with intricate tasks like code migration and modernization projects.

Reports suggest that Devin is more capable than the available alternatives. It doesn’t just write code but helps troubleshoot coding errors and inform developers of the real-time progress.

Speaking about Devin, Microsoft’s CTO Kevin Scott said,

There are some tedious things you do as an engineer or a software developer, such as replatforming. It’s rare that an engineer really enjoys doing that. Devin is a tool designed to help you with those tasks.

Also, as is the case with most of Microsoft’s recent collaborations, Cognition AI’s Devin will now be powered by Azure, the Redmond-based tech giant’s native cloud computing and AI platform. Recently, Seimens, upon collaborating with Microsoft, moved Xcelerator to Azure.

These collaborations have helped Microsoft Azure emerge as a key player in the cloud computing landscape, outperforming Amazon Web Service and Google Cloud.

Besides, the collaboration comes at a time when Cognition AI claims a $2 billion valuation after raising $175 million in recent funding. Not to forget, the startup was founded just six months ago in Nov’23. This is a significant feat for a startup still pretty much in its infancy!
