Set in a post-human, overgrown Japan in 4026 AD, the game follows Emma, a girl born with blight powers that let her manipulate plants, and her companion Koo, a malefact—a dangerous hybrid creature. Emma’s role as a “sealer” forces her to hunt malefacts and absorb their blight, but fate brings her and Koo together.

Their journey eventually leads to the West, where they must confront the source of all blight: the Beast of Reincarnation. Blighted forests, generated by a massive malefact called Nushi, shift and reshape the environment, creating dynamic challenges throughout the game.

Combat blends fast-paced katana action with Koo’s command-based abilities, giving players a mix of reflex-driven and strategic gameplay. Parrying enemy attacks builds points that unlock Koo’s skills, while a slowed combat menu allows for tactical planning.

Players can equip Spirit Stones, discover new katanas for Emma, and customize Koo’s charms, creating a highly personal combat style. The game offers Normal, Hard, and Story modes, with Story Mode reducing difficulty for a more forgiving experience.

The world is rich with secrets, both protagonists and their allies carry hidden stories that unfold as players progress. The developers emphasize tempo and exploration, creating moments to pause, think, and strategize rather than rely solely on reflexes.
