Big Walk Skips Xbox Release as Developers Join Boycott Against Microsoft
Xbox gamers hoping to jump into Big Walk with their friends may be out of luck. Developer House House has confirmed that its upcoming multiplayer game will not launch on Xbox. The studio says the decision follows the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement’s call to boycott Microsoft.
Big Walk skips Xbox over Microsoft’s BDS boycott status
In a statement published today, House House addressed repeated questions about a potential Xbox release. The developer had previously announced in June 2026 that Big Walk would launch on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.
The studio has now made its position clear. Big Walk will not come to Xbox while Microsoft or Xbox remains a priority boycott target under the BDS movement. House House also directed readers to resources explaining why Microsoft is targeted and how boycott campaigns have affected the company. The studio cited its belief that coordinated collective action can pressure powerful organizations into meaningful change.
However, the decision comes with a significant downside for the game itself. House House acknowledged that keeping Big Walk off Xbox means some players will miss the opportunity to play with their friends.
House House acknowledges the disappointment
Big Walk is designed around groups of friends playing together. That makes the Xbox decision particularly awkward for players whose gaming groups use Microsoft’s consoles. The developer openly admitted that the move runs counter to its original intention of making the game accessible to groups of friends. It also acknowledged the disappointment the decision will cause, saying the studio shares that disappointment.
Despite the potential loss of players, House House says it would welcome an Xbox release under different circumstances. However, the studio will not reconsider until Microsoft and/or Xbox are removed as BDS boycott targets.
Big Walk is still coming to PC, PS5, and Switch 2
For now, the developer’s previously announced platforms remain unchanged. Big Walk is planned for PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. House House has not announced an Xbox release date or provided a timeline for reconsidering its decision. Any change will depend on the conditions outlined in its statement.
