Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Keeps Selling Strong Despite Player Backlash
If you listen to the loud voices on the internet right now, you might think the latest Call of Duty is a total ghost town. People love to complain and call Black Ops 7 a dead game, but the actual sales numbers tell a completely different story. Even with all the heavy criticism and negative chatter online, gamers are still spending plenty of money to buy it.
Black Ops 7 was the third-best-selling game across platforms last month
Recent data from Circana shows exactly what people are actually buying in the United States. For February 2026, Black Ops 7 grabbed the number three spot for premium game sales across all major platforms like Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Switch. It did drop down a bit from its number one rank in January, since Resident Evil: Requiem took over the top position.
But holding third place shows it has serious staying power. The bad reviews are clearly not stopping regular players from picking up a copy and jumping into multiplayer matches.
There were a few other big surprises in February
The February charts brought a few other interesting details, too. Helldivers 2 had a massive month, and it actually sold the most copies on Xbox compared to PlayStation and PC. Microsoft only had one other game in the top twenty, which was Forza Horizon 5, sitting at number sixteen.
Another huge jump came from Diablo 2: Resurrected. A recent update and a fresh release on Steam pushed it from way down at spot 195 straight up to number 13. So while the internet debates what games are good or bad, the actual spending habits always reveal the truth. Notably, 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is also blowing up on Steam, thanks to a huge sale and positive word of mouth.
