For years, Call of Duty players have complained about spinning the same sub-series too quickly, which makes them feel each entry rushed. Treyarch seems to have heard that loud and clear and has confirmed to move away from that pattern to give each era of Call of Duty “room to breathe” and avoid the fatigue that set in across older cycles.

As a result, earlier this week, Treyarch confirmed that Black Ops 7 is getting a full free trial next week. This gives players a chance to jump in without waiting for discounts or big events. Well, even if fans aren’t happy, it seems Call of Duty is still a popular franchise among the fans.

According to new data shared by Xbox on X, Call of Duty was the number 1 franchise on Xbox Game Pass in November. That’s not all; it was the no.1 franchise for all of 2025 so far. Xbox highlighted that players kept returning to the franchise across both new releases and classic titles.

The engagement spike isn’t too surprising, especially after several COD entries dropped into Game Pass earlier this year and instantly shot up the charts.

Now that the stage is set for free trials, we expect the Game Pass numbers to jump in next week. So, are you planning to try the free trial or wait for the full release? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
