OpenAI Global Outage [Feb. 4]: ChatGPT Is Down Right Now for Thousands of Users Globally

[UPDATE: Feb. 4th 2026, 11:00 PM IST] ChatGPT is down again, for the second time in this week, for thousands of users right now. DownDetector shows over 10,000 user reports at the time of writing this update.

[UPDATE: Feb. 4th 2026, 02:36 AM IST] ChatGPT is working flawlessly now, at least for us. Check out the screenshot, which we took while updating this piece.

[ORIGINAL STORY] If you’ve been wondering if it’s just you or if ChatGPT is actually down, you aren’t alone. It looks like ChatGPT is currently offline for many users, not just you.

At the time of writing, DownDetector shows over 7000 user reports, with most of the reports suggesting issues related to ChatGPT. When we tried to get some response out of ChatGPT, we came across “Hmm…something seems to have gone wrong.”
