ChatGPT Work Can Now Handle Website Logins on Web & Mobile Without Seeing Passwords

ChatGPT Work is getting a major upgrade that pushes it beyond answering questions. OpenAI says Work can now use websites on web and mobile after users sign in, handling tasks that normally require manual browser clicks.

The interesting part is the login process. Your credentials stay hidden from ChatGPT, while Work can continue with the website task after authentication.

The new capability targets everyday tasks rather than simple searches. Users can ask Work to arrange utilities, find appointments, manage paperwork, compare policies, or handle other website workflows.

It can also work across different situations. That includes apartment searches, vehicle registration paperwork, package returns, veterinary appointments, and insurance reimbursement tasks.

For businesses, the possibilities are broader. Work can find candidates, prepare outreach, process invoices, update vendor portals, and analyze advertising campaigns.

OpenAI describes Work as an agent built for longer, multi-step tasks. It can research, analyze information, work with connected apps, and create finished deliverables.

The login change could be the biggest part

The move matters because authentication has traditionally been a major barrier for browser-based AI agents. OpenAI’s current Work documentation confirms that Work operates across web and mobile, while browser access depends on supported capabilities and permissions.

OpenAI says the new login experience is rolling out today for Plus, Pro, and Business users. Availability may still depend on rollout status and supported websites.

That could turn Work into something closer to a digital assistant than a conventional chatbot. Instead of simply telling users where to click, it can potentially carry the task forward.
