Claude is Down in Latest Outage, Mythos 5, Fable 5, Opus 5, and Opus 4.8 Models Affected
Anthropic is working on fix
If you are wondering whether Claude is down just for you or everyone else, you are definitely not alone. Many Claude users have reported widespread errors across multiple models, while Anthropic says it has identified the cause and is still working toward a fix.
Claude outage sends error reports soaring
Outage tracking site Downdetector, showed a huge spike in user reports regarding Claude issues. A few hours back, user reports spiked to nearly 1800, compared with a baseline of just eight.
At the time of writing this, user reports have come down to 154, suggesting the Claude outage may be easing. However, that does not necessarily mean Claude has fully recovered for everyone.
Anthropic’s status page currently lists an incident titled “Elevated errors for multiple models.” The company says the problem affects requests to Claude Mythos 5, Fable 5, Opus 5, and other models.
Anthropic has identified the cause, but the fix is still underway
Anthropic initially began investigating the problem at 05:06 UTC on August 24. It identified the cause roughly 20 minutes later and said engineers were working on a fix. The latest status update says Anthropic is continuing to work on the issue. That means users may still encounter failed requests even as the number of reports declines.
For now, there is no confirmed timeline for a complete recovery. If Claude is still throwing errors for you, the problem may be server-side rather than your device or connection. So, if Claude isn’t working for you right now, wait till the outage fully subsides.
