[Update: Down Today] Claude AI is Down Right Now, Anthropic Confirms Outage

[Update: Mar 03, 2026 – 03:15 UTC] Anthropic has confirmed that Claude AI is down again. The company has marked “Elevated errors in claude.ai”. Over on DownDetector, user reports have spiked yet again. At the time of writing this update, at least 4000 users have reported issues with Claude AI.

[ORIGINAL STORY] If you’ve been running into issues while using Claude this morning, you’re not alone. As reported by folks at Bleeping Computer, the AI assistant is reportedly down worldwide for many. A couple of hours back, Downdetector also showed a spike in user reports. However, it’s settling a little. At the time of writing this, Downdetector shows nearly 900 user reports, down from nearly 2000.

Over on the Claude status page, Anthropic has confirmed that Claude is currently experiencing elevated errors affecting claude.ai, the console, and Claude Code. The issue appears to have started earlier today, with the company acknowledging the issue at 11:49 UTC on March 2, 2026. According to the official updates, Anthropic initially began investigating reports of service instability before identifying the root cause.

At one point, the company clarified that the Claude API itself was working as intended and that the issues were specifically linked to Claude.ai along with login and logout pathways. However, a later update noted that some API methods were also not functioning properly, suggesting the impact may have been broader than first believed.

By 13:22 UTC, the issue had been officially identified, and a fix was being implemented. As of the latest update at 13:37 UTC, Anthropic says it is still investigating certain API-related problems.

There’s currently no official ETA for full resolution, but a fix is reportedly underway. Users experiencing errors are advised to monitor the Claude status page for further updates.
