CyberGhost VPN is an Internet anonymization service provided by CyberGhost S.A. is operated in Romanian Bucharest. The company offers an OpenVPN based proprietary client, the service can alternatively be used with the VPN protocols IPSec, L2TP / IPSec, PPTP or OpenVPN. After expiration of a limited test period, the service will be chargeable, either on a subscription basis or as prepaid by bitcoin or offline purchases. CyberGhost was sold for $ 9.8 million in 2017 and is now part of the Crossrider group. The company Crossrider is quite critically discussed on the Internet.

On the servers of the service, an exchange of the IP address of the user takes place through an IP address of the service, which is shared with all users of the selected server. The IP address of the service should be retrospectively associated with no real identity of an individual user. The account opening as a condition for participation in the service is completely anonymous by arbitrary indication of any user data.
