Dune: Awakening Releases on XBOX With Full Single-Player, PvE Mode & Major Overhaul

Dune: Awakening has finally arrived on Xbox, but Funcom is making sure the console launch feels like much more than a simple PC-to-console port. The Xbox release comes alongside a huge update that changes several core parts of the survival MMO. Nit to forget, the game is also available for XBOX Game Pass subscribers.

The biggest addition is full single-player support, allowing players to experience the game without committing to its multiplayer-focused structure. Players can choose from three difficulty presets or customize individual gameplay settings, including sandstorms, harvesting, XP multipliers, building limits and item durability.

Dune: Awakening is becoming much more solo-friendly

Funcom has also made PvP optional across the entire game. Players can now experience Dune: Awakening entirely through PvE without missing out on content, gameplay mechanics or rewards.

The game’s endgame has received a major overhaul too. The Landsraad faction system has been rebuilt around missions that work for both multiplayer PvE and solo players, while late-game items require fewer rare materials to make the endgame more accessible without a guild.

Combat has also been reworked with a larger parry window, improved enemy AI, rebalanced stamina and new weapons, while Arrakis itself has been expanded with new mission locations, Testing Stations and dynamic encounters.

On Xbox Series X|S, players get Performance and Quality modes, with Performance targeting 60fps and Dynamic 4K. The game is also available through Game Pass, Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

And Funcom isn’t stopping here. The Polar Cap is planned as a free update later this year, bringing a new icy survival map, mechanics, resources, loot and a standalone storyline. Full cross-play is also planned after the console launch.
