Estée Lauder and Microsoft announce AI Innovation Lab focusing on beauty-based Generative AI

Microsoft is wrapping up another AI partnership, and this time it’s been made with Estee Lauder, one of the world’s leading companies in the beauty industry. The new partnership will culminate in the AI Innovation Lab, a center that will develop beauty-based Generative AI.

What does this mean? Well, according to the official press release, this AI will help companies in the beauty industry streamline their work and productivity, while also supporting the scientists behind the invention and development of cosmetics.

Microsoft and Estee Lauder say that the AI Innovation Lab has two central goals:

  • Faster response and execution to social trends and consumer demands: ELC and Microsoft have successfully created an internal-facing generative AI chatbot to enhance marketing effectiveness globally. The tool utilizes advanced conversational AI technology to efficiently navigate and further leverage ELC’s proprietary and extensive database of product and claim data, allowing brands to launch locally relevant campaigns more rapidly.
  • Enabling fast and more effective product innovation: ELC and Microsoft are applying generative AI tools in research and development for quicker product development, allowing scientists and product development specialists to respond to emerging product and ingredient trends more rapidly.

So, AI won’t be just able to deal with and contribute to marketing strategies regarding beauty products, but the AI will also allow these companies to come up with new cosmetics faster.

The Redmond-based tech giant seems excited to expand its AI technologies into this industry, as well.
