Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Demo Now Live on Switch 2 and Xbox

Saved progress carries over

Square Enix has dropped a free, playable demo for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S. And, it gives an early taste of the game ahead of its full release. The demo is live on the Switch 2 eShop and the Xbox Store.

To catch you up, the game’s official launch will drop on January 22, 2026. It allows players to jump into the opening chapter set in Midgar, where Cloud Strife teams up with the resistance group Avalanche to sabotage a Shinra-operated Mako Reactor.

Just be clear, this isn’t a stripped-down preview, as Square Enix says the demo is designed as a true introduction to the game. Players who try it can carry over their save data to the full game if they decide to purchase it later. On top of that, demo players will unlock a Revival Earrings item and a Survival Set in the full release.

There are also several pre-order freebies for you. Players who pre-order the digital edition on Switch 2 or Xbox Series X/S until January 31 will receive the original Final Fantasy at no extra cost. Xbox players get access immediately after pre-ordering, while Switch 2 players will receive it on launch day.

Square Enix recently shared a comparison video shared earlier shows the game running alongside versions on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. According to director Naoki Hamaguchi, the team has tried preserving lighting quality, even if it meant cutting back on fog and other post-processing effects. The result is a 30 FPS experience on Switch 2 that avoids feeling visually compromised.

Have you tried the demo yet, or are you waiting for the full release in January?
