Firefox 152 Lets You Mute Noisy Tab With a Single Command

Firefox 152 is out for everyone now

Mozilla is rolling out Firefox 152 to users with a redesigned settings experience, new privacy controls, expanded translation support, and several quality-of-life upgrades that makes everyday browsing faster and less frustrating.

Firefox 152 gets revamped Settings menu

As part of the version 152, Firefox gets a completely overhauled Settings menu. Mozilla says the redesigned interface introduces clearer categories, streamlined navigation, and a more organized layout that makes browser customization easier to manage.

As usual, this update also focuses on Privacy features. Firefox users can now temporarily disable tracker blocking on individual sites when strict protections cause pages to break. Rather than forcing users to dig through menus, Firefox will display a prompt offering to reload the page with relaxed tracking protections while keeping all other safeguards active.

Mute noisy tabs with simple commands

Moving on, Firefox 152 also brings a new shortcut for silencing noisy tabs. Users can type “mute,” “shush,” or “sssh” into the address bar to instantly mute all tabs playing audio across every open Firefox window.

Speaking of productivity, Firefox now lets Windows and Linux users copy links directly from the tab context menu without opening the page first. A new “Send Tab” toolbar button is also available through the customization menu.

Traslations now support more languages

The update also expands Firefox Translations with support for Basque and Galician while adding built-in spellcheck dictionaries for several languages, including Turkish, Persian, Welsh, Croatian, Tamil, and Georgian. Meanwhile, Firefox Labs now includes experimental support for JPEG XL, a next-generation image format designed to deliver better compression than JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP.

Other improvements include finer zoom controls, smarter PDF downloads, multiple bug fixes, WebAuthn enhancements for passkeys, and support for notification action buttons across the web. Not to forget, Mozilla has announced a public Firefox roadmap to keep users informed about upcoming features and ongoing development.
