Fortnite is Down & Not Working on PS4 and PS5, Epic Games Investigates Login Issues
Fortnite players on PS4 and PS5 are suddenly running into login trouble, and Epic Games has officially acknowledged the problem. The company says it is investigating an issue that may stop players from getting into Fortnite.
Fortnite Login Problems Are Affecting PlayStation Players
Epic Games added the incident to its public status page on August 28, 2026, at 13:55 UTC. The report specifically lists Fortnite’s Login service as affected.
The company has not provided a confirmed cause for the disruption yet. It also has not announced a workaround for players currently unable to sign in.
That means repeatedly restarting Fortnite may not solve the problem. The issue appears tied to Epic’s login systems rather than a confirmed problem with individual PlayStation consoles.
What Fortnite Players Need To Know
The outage is currently limited to PS4 and PS5 login access based on Epic’s public report. Other Fortnite services remain listed as operational on the status page. Matchmaking, voice chat, parties, friends, and messaging are currently shown as operational. However, players still need successful authentication before accessing the game
The company says it will provide another update once more information becomes available. Until then, the public status page remains the clearest confirmation.
Speaking of the current outage, it’s unclear how many players are affected. It’s also unclear whether the problem is connected to PlayStation authentication or Epic’s own systems.
