Many Xbox One games like Fallout 4 and Farming Simulator 17 offer a modding system separate from Xbox Live which allows players to further customize their in-game experience. As great as this is, according to a report from Windows Central, a recent job listing suggests Microsoft may be adding Game Mods directly to Xbox Live sometime in the future.
The listing calls for someone with the skills set to help “drive support on Xbox Live for game mods” and work with game developers “bring to market a new set of services, tools, and experiences.” It is rather detailed, even though Microsoft has yet to acknowledge any plans for adding Game Mods to Xbox One:
You will have a unique opportunity to shape and bring to market a new set of services, tools and experiences allowing game developers to easily integrate mods into their games, communities of passionate fans to create and share awesome and engaging content for the games they love, while keeping everyone on the network safe from abusive content. You will work both within Xbox and across organizations, collaborating with UX design teams, experience teams, and service engineering teams from Xbox, first party studios, Universal Store, CELA, Policy Enforcement, and more.
As always, more is likely to develop as time progresses. The game mods will likely be appreciated by many, so be sure to keep tuned for more in the months ahead.
