Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Xbox Controller is Now Up for Pre-order

Gears of War fans have a fresh piece of hardware to throw into the fight. Xbox has opened preorders for its new, limited-edition E-Day controller. The limited edition pad channels the destruction of Emergence Day with cracked surfaces, glowing red details, and the iconic Crimson Omen.

The controller features 3D-molded and laser-etched cracks across its shell. Red glowing lines recreate the look of an erupting E-hole beneath the surface.

Black ABXY buttons surround a transparent red X button. Red triggers and a transparent D-pad continue the same battle-worn theme. A dark silver COG tag sits on the battery door.

Meanwhile, textured grips complete the design for players wanting something beyond a standard Xbox controller. The controller costs $89.99 and is available for preorder through participating retailers worldwide.

Xbox Design Lab gets its own E-Day treatment

That is not the only controller coming for Gears fans. Starting September 30, Xbox Design Lab will let players create a custom Gears of War: E-Day controller. The design includes artwork from heavy metal illustrator Luke Preece. Its top case features a skull above crossed Lancers, surrounded by additional battle-worn details.

Fans can also add metallic triggers, metallic D-pads, rubberized grips, and personalized engraving. Both designs will make their public debut at Gamescom 2026. Visitors can also play Gears of War: E-Day during its playable campaign debut.

Not to forget, an 8BitDo Ultimate Charging Dock is also launching as a complementary Gears-themed accessory. It includes a rechargeable battery and magnetic charging system.
