Gears of War: E-Day Releases in Early Access With Brutal Launch Gameplay Trailer

Gears of War: E-Day is officially playable today, with Early Access now live for Premium Edition owners and Game Pass subscribers with the Premium Upgrade. The Coalition has also dropped a new launch gameplay trailer featuring Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls” as the game gets ready for its full release.

Gears of War: E-Day Early Access is live now

Early Access began worldwide on October 1 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, giving eligible players five days of early access before the game’s full launch on October 6. E-Day is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam, with cloud gaming available through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW.

The game takes players 14 years before the original Gears of War, following Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as the Locust Horde emerges and throws humanity into a desperate fight for survival. The campaign supports solo play, two-player split-screen and up to four-player online co-op.

Multiplayer also brings back the series’ familiar Versus experience alongside Horde Siege, a new PvE mode built around three squads of four players tackling objectives across the same battlefield.

The new trailer gives players another look at the game’s campaign and combat while pairing the action with Metallica’s iconic track. The Coalition has also confirmed that Season 1, Emergence, begins alongside Early Access and will run for eight weeks, featuring launch maps, modes, cosmetics and themed events.
