Is GTA 6 Coming to Switch 2? Nintendo of America Chief Says It’s Up to Rockstar & Take-Two
GTA 6 is approaching its official November 19, 2026, release date, despite leaks popping up from all sides in recent months. Just yesterday, Cyberleek leaked another 25 minutes of GTA 6’s gameplay, confirming many new details. As far as official things are concerned, Rockstar has previewed six in-game radio stations.
Nintendo says GTA 6 on Switch 2 is up to Rockstar and Take-Two
No wonder the hype around GTA 6 is real, but most of it applies to those with Xbox consoles or PS5. But if you own a Nintendo Switch 2 and are wondering whether all this excitement applies to you, there might be some hope. However, Nintendo’s latest comments suggest that bringing GTA 6 to its console is not a decision the company can make on its own.
In an interview with Variety, Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard was asked whether GTA 6 could release on the Switch 2. Her response offered some hope for fans hoping to play GTA 6 on Nintendo’s latest console.
“That’s going to be a conversation for Take Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time,” Pritchard told Variety. Well, Nintendo isn’t confirming a Switch 2 version of GTA 6, nor has it ruled one out. So, the decision rests with Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games, leaving the possibility open without giving fans a concrete reason to expect a port.
For now, Switch 2 owners should keep their GTA 6 expectations in check. A port could potentially expand GTA 6’s audience, especially among players who prefer handheld gaming. However, technical demands and commercial considerations may influence Rockstar’s decision.
