Gucci recently announced their first ever collaboration with Microsoft’s Xbox brand in the form of an extremely limited edition Gucci-branded Xbox Series X console bundle.
These Xbox Series X console bundles featured a new console with the original Gucci Rhombi design from the ’30s imprinted on its covering, two new Xbox controllers with an exclusive red and blue Gucci stripe design, and a hard carry case with its own Xbox/Gucci aesthetic.
A rather clever GG pun was also embraced with this product launch.
“On the bottom of the case sit the words GOOD GAME,” the product on the Gucci website explains. “A motto that recalls the happy coincidence that GG stands for the signature motif in Gucci’s decorative vocabulary—House founder Guccio Gucci’s initials—but also as the acronym of this formula, used sportingly by gamers as a way of signing off at the end of online multiplayer contests.”
Only 100 Gucci Xbox Series X sets were made with each retailing for a whopping $10,000. Rather impressively, as seen by the new tag added to the official product listing, they’ve all now sold out. This means that any collectors hoping to get their hands on one of these are likely going to have to pay even more that the original price. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how much they go for on auction sites a few years from now.
