Hisense is making Xbox ready laser projection TVs for gaming

Not long ago, Microsoft made a promise to bring Xbox to every screen. Now, it’s working on a handheld console, but we wouldn’t imagine that screens are also coming to Xbox.

The Chinese electronics manufacturer Hisense will bring its A-game in cutting-edge Laser display technology to enhance your Xbox gaming experience.

Hisense’s press release doesn’t cover much from the tech specs of the alleged laser TV’s, but we do know that they will be over 100 inch in diagonal:

Hisense aims to provide not only superior products but an entire experience that’s designed specifically for gaming and home entertainment. Our partnership with the Designed for Xbox Program seeks to truly level up the gaming experience and allow people all over the world to enjoy a larger-than-life experience with more than 100-inch of image display.

Jerry Liu, Vice President of Hisense International

What are laser TVs and why do I need one for Xbox?

First, we need to make things a bit more clear. What Hisense calls laser TVs are actually short-throw laser video projectors. However, instead of just selling the projector, they also throw in the projection screen which is especially made to optimize the image quality.

The so-called TV display is created especially to work best with the projector and it also features a Hisense patented ambient light rejecting technology that provides a glare-free picture even if you watch it in a lit environment.

Now, the advantage of a short-throw projector like the ones from Hisense is that it can create a huge 100-120-inch screen from just a couple of inches from the projection screen. And that increases the light output that reaches the screen.

Hisense laser TVs also feature 4K UHD and HDR technology, and MEMC, a technology that minimizes the lag and creates a smooth motion of the elements on the screen. The projectors also have an Auto-Low Latency Mode (ALLM) that automatically detects when you’ve powered on your gaming console and optimizes the settings to provide a lag-free gameplay.

So, that’s what Hisense is bringing up to help your Xbox experience. The Chinese don’t mention what are the products optimized for Xbox, but they will most likely have a green Xbox sticker saying Designed for Xbox on it.
