HP Bets Big on OpenAI Frontier for AI-Powered Work
Yesterday, HP announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI that will see the Frontier platform rolled out across customer-facing services and internal operations. Rather than limiting AI to experimental projects, HP says it plans to use Frontier across multiple parts of the business.
HP goes all-in on OpenAI frontier to transform customer experience and internal operations
The rollout will initially focus on customer and partner experiences, employee productivity, software development, and customer telemetry powered by its Workforce Experience Platform (WXP), which recently earned a Leader position in Gartner’s 2026 Magic Quadrant for Digital Employee Experience Management Tools.
The partnership follows several months of evaluation after HP began testing OpenAI Frontier in February 2026. During that period, the company assessed the platform’s enterprise capabilities, including agentic AI features, security, governance, integrations, and deployment across business workflows. HP says those tests convinced it that OpenAI’s models and long-term roadmap aligned with its AI strategy.
“With OpenAI there is an opportunity to fundamentally rethink how AI can deliver better outcomes. With the use of Frontier platform, HP is planning to build a more consistent experience across store, partner, chat, and voice experiences, giving customers and partners faster ways to get answers, complete routine workflows, and move toward resolution. It reflects the ambition of our AI strategy to deliver real-world outcomes at scale,” said Prakash Arunkundrum, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at HP Inc.
OpenAI also described the partnership as an important milestone for enterprise AI adoption. “HP is showing what enterprise transformation looks like when AI becomes an operating layer connected to the systems and workflows where work already happens,” said Denise Dresser, Chief Revenue Officer at OpenAI.
Moreover, she added that HP had already generated value from OpenAI APIs, ChatGPT, and Codex, and the expanded Frontier partnership would help scale those deployments into repeatable enterprise systems.
