Microsoft Teams’ Together Mode is getting a new simplified structure that will make it easier for users to learn how to set it up. Setting up Together mode will be straightforward, and the new structure will guide users through all the steps from start to finish.
According to the latest entry to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, this includes setting up the scene (like choosing a background), assigning seats to participants, and ensuring it applies to everyone on the call.
Although the feature isn’t changing, new icons on the meeting toolbar will make each step clearer and easier to access.
Here’s what the entry says:
Together mode will get a new simplified flow which will take the user from the beginning to the end through the steps of setting up the scene, assigning the seats and applying for everyone in the call in a transparent and easy-to-understand way. The function itself does not change but there will be more transparency thanks to the icons on the meeting toolbar for an easy access for each next step in the familiar Together mode flow.
Microsoft will also update Teams with a brand new End Event button that organizers and presenters can use in events like town halls, webinars, and structured meetings. With it, organizers and presenters can press this button to end the session. When this button is pressed, a message will appear for everyone watching, letting them know the event has finished.
Ultimately, presenters will be returned to a virtual backstage area called the Green Room, which will make the whole process far more organized. Here’s the entry:
Organizers and presenters can now end the session with this new “End Event” button for town halls, webinars, and structured meetings. After selecting this button, attendees will see a message on stage stating that the session has concluded, and presenters will return to the Green Room.
Both capabilities will be released in January 2025. Learning to use Together Mode in Teams is quick and easy.
In other news, Microsoft Teams will let users customize how they open their links on the platform. It can be within Teams or a browser of preference.
