If you’re having trouble loading Instagram, Facebook, or Messenger right now, you’re definitely not the only one. Thousands of users have started reporting issues with Meta’s social platforms, suggesting the company may be dealing with a widespread outage.

According to Downdetector, reports for Instagram have surged dramatically over the past hour, reaching nearly 4,000 reports at the time of writing. Users say they’re unable to refresh their feeds, send messages, or even log into the app. Similar spikes are also being reported for Facebook and Facebook Messenger, pointing to what appears to be a broader Meta service disruption.

Messenger has also seen a sharp increase in outage reports, climbing to more than 1,300 reports, while Facebook itself has crossed 660 reports. The fact that all three services started experiencing issues around the same time strongly suggests the problem isn’t isolated to a single app.

As of now, Meta hasn’t acknowledged the outage on its official status channels, so it’s unclear what’s causing the disruption or when services will return to normal. That said, whenever Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger go down simultaneously, the issue is usually linked to Meta’s backend infrastructure rather than something users can fix on their own.

If you’re affected, there’s very little you need to do besides waiting. You can try restarting the app or switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, but if the outage is indeed on Meta’s side, those steps are unlikely to resolve the problem.

We’ll continue monitoring the situation and update this story if Meta shares more information or if services begin recovering.
