Alessandro Paluzzi, a leaker and mobile developer, disclosed the underdevelopment feature of Instagram. His post on X (formerly Twitter):
According to this post, Instagram is developing a feature that will allow users to share backdated posts on the social media platform.
The screenshot shared by the leaker also mentioned that the feature will be called Post to the Past on Instagram.
We don’t know whether the feature will be released for the general public or for limited business accounts, or whether it will be open to all on the platform.
Meta has a feature on Facebook that allows you to change the publish date on your timeline. However, the feature is limited to changing the date of content that you have already posted on Facebook.
However, it doesn’t have a feature that enables you to post in the past, whether it is a post or a story. There are more unreleased features that are under development, including Notes Prompts, adding a reason to your follow request, and animated emojis in DMs.
Although the post in the past features seem to be interesting, it will allow you to add old pictures and images to your social media account on the date they were taken.
However, it could also be dangerous if misused. It could cause a lot of issues for people in custody battles or other legal problems.
No matter how innovative and interesting the feature may sound, the social media platform must ensure that it is not misused or decide whether to release it to the general public.
