Microsoft just added a new feature in Build 26016 (Canary Channel) that allows you to get instant notifications on your PC when you capture a new image on your Android device. With a single tap, you can view, edit or share the images from your phone!
Of course, that will only happen if you add your device to the managed mobile devices in Windows.
How do I enable photo notifications from your Android device?
- Click the Start button on your Windows PC and go to Settings.
- Now, click on Bluetooth & devices and select Mobile devices.
- Next, choose Manage devices and allow your PC to access your Android phone.
- If you didn’t link your phone to your PC yet, click on the Add device button to do that. You will also need to install the Link to Windows app on your mobile device.
After this, every time you take a new shot on your Android phone, you will get a notification on your Windows device prompting you to view, edit or share the image from your mobile device.
You should know that this settings was updated with Build 26016 in the Canary Channel. You will not find it yet on the Windows 11 versions from the general release channel.
Also, after linking your phone, your PC will receive a Cross Device Experience Host update in the Microsoft Store that is required for this experience to work.
You should know that you can already use Phone Link for PC and Link to Windows on Android to get the images from your mobile device. You may also use Phone Link to connect your iPhone with Windows 11.
The new Build 26016 also brings other features like a new Windows Setup Experience and 80Gbps USB support for Windows 11.
However, with the new notification feature, you can access the images instantly on your PC.
What do you think about the new photo notification feature? Let’s discuss it in the comments section below.
