GitHub is reportedly down, with outage reports suddenly shooting upward. Users are reporting problems across several core services. Downdetector’s live graph shows reports jumping sharply after remaining relatively quiet for much of the day. The latest spike approaches 400 reports. Meanwhile, GitHub’s own status updates point to a wider service disruption rather than one isolated problem.

GitHub outage hits several services at once

The incident currently centers on Webhooks, according to GitHub’s status updates. GitHub says it is investigating degraded performance affecting the service. The company also flagged issues with Git Operations, Issues, Pull Requests, and Packages. Those services were each listed as experiencing degraded performance.

The affected Git operations occurred between 14:32 and 14:46 UTC, according to the latest status update. That timing translates to 8:02 PM through 8:16 PM IST. The status page has not described this as a complete platform failure. However, the number of affected services makes the incident more significant than a routine hiccup.

As of now, developers relying on repositories, package delivery, pull requests, or automated webhooks could notice the problems first. Teams running active deployments may also see failed or delayed operations.

GitHub has not yet provided a detailed root cause. Engineers say they have identified the source and are working on measures to prevent another occurrence.

We’ll update on this matter as soon s we get another update. Stay tuned!
